This strawberry gin cocktail recipe couldn't be simpler if it tried. It is essentially a gin and tonic without the tonic of course but with added fresh fruitiness of strawberry and lime.
Gin is my favourite liqueur for mixing cocktails followed by rum and maybe tequila. I love fruit and coconut flavours. I know that is a wildly fluctuating flavour spectrum, especially while making cocktails. From the refined sophistication of delicate botanicals in gin drinks to the wildly loud and tropical flavours of rum cocktails. Both so delicious.
I mentioned recently on social media that Nick and I were shaking up date night (previously known as Cocktail & Oysters Night) by spending a small amount of time in the kitchen together. We make one simple dish (most often an entrée or canapé and one cocktail. I do the food, he does the drink. And so ensues a delightfully simple but utterly special Friday evening in the cosy comfort of our kitchen. Halfway into our cocktail and canapé chat session, the boys invariably crash the party with glasses of kombucha. It is the food that draws them in and they cant wait to try the delicious new canapé on offer. And then two become four and the chat session continues. We wouldn't have it any other way.
I call this cocktail Nick's Lazy Day Beverage. There are Fridays that he won't feel like cranking open the pages of our many cocktail books, but instead just play around with gin and fruit. In this case, the result is a gloriously simple but lip smacking Strawberry Gin Fizz. On those lazy days, I forgo cooking a slightly more involved canapé for something simpler like these Fiery Prawns On Wonton Crisps. Delicious!
